Since taking over as chief of mission on November 4th in replacement of former ambassador Mansoor Ahmed Khan, Mr. Nizamani has been in Kabul for less than a month. Later, on the attack day, the FO informed;
"The Charged 'Affaires notified that the Afghan illegitimate government was in charge of ensuring protection and safety for Pakistan's diplomatic missions and workers, and that this attack was a very massive security lapse."
The attack on the embassy in Kabul was condemned by the presidents of Pakistan, Arif Alvi, Shahbaz Shareef, and Asif Ali Zardari, who all called for a thorough inquiry into the attack. The "failed attack" was further denounced by the Afghan foreign ministry. The ministry declared in a statement that "malicious actors" would not be permitted to threaten the safety of diplomatic missions in Kabul. Security organizations are taking this incident seriously. They will be punished in accordance with the law after being identified as the offenders. Speaking on behalf of the ministry, Abdul Qahar Balkhi said;
"Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan strongly condemns the attempted shooting and failed attack on the Pakistani embassy in Kabul".
During the tenure of the Afghan Taliban, there has been a substantial rise in ceasefire violations between police and military on both sides and cross-border attacks by the TTP (Tehrik-i-Taliban) as well as other terrorist organizations that have taken shelter inside Afghanistan. As anticipated, the ill-fated "negotiations" that the Taliban organized have failed, and indeed the TTP is now calling for a full-scale war against the Pakistani government.
The UN (United Nations) has also denounced the attack and promised to do its share to help Afghanistan become more secure. Secretary-Spokesman General Stephane Dujarric said during a press conference at the UN's New York headquarters;
"We're, first and foremost, glad that the chargé affairs of the embassy of Pakistan remained uninjured."
Pakistan demanded that all effective precautions be taken to ensure the security of the diplomatic premises, officers, and staff working in Pakistan's Mission in Kabul and Consulates in Jalalabad, Kandahar, Herat, and Mazar-i-Sharif, in addition to that the threats and attacks must be instantaneously apprehended and brought to justice, as well as that an enquiry be launched into the serious breach of security of the embassy premises.
The foreign ministry of Pakistan also declared:
"We are independently and in consultation with the Afghan authorities investigating the authenticity of these claims."
It said that the incident served as a reminder of the danger that extremist activities presented to the area. Additionally, the incident ultimately harms the trusting relationship between partner governments, so the Afghan government must ensure the security of the embassy as well as the members involved in a certain mission for making healthy connections and for the achievements of both countries to combat this evil.
