RESPONSE OF NATIONAL ASSEMBLY SPEAKER RAJA PERVAIZ ASHRAF ON PTI RESIGNATIONS FROM NATIONAL ASSEMBLY
The PTI's tenancy ended in April 2022 because of the no confidence motion known
as Tehreek Adam Aitmad, which was brought by PTI opposition in 2022. The PTI government was in power from August 2018 until April 2022. Asad Qaisar, the speaker of the National Assembly, agreed with the PTI's leadership's plan to reject the vote of no-confidence by issuing a ruling, which is against our law according to article 5.
Imran Khan, the chairman of PTI, began the fight against their opponent at that point by first executing their long march strategy. Further, he consistently pushed out the dates for the implementation of their long march strategy. In fact, he was only providing their adversary chances to resolve everything by sitting down at a table rather than on the roads, but that also did not work. He suffered a dangerous attack on himself in Wazirabad while carrying out a long march from Lahore, and about 4-5 bullets hit him in the legs. However, when he arrived in Rawalpindi, he announced his ultimate plan, which involved a significant backlash from provincial and national assemblies.
Imran Khan, chairman of the PTI, presided over a party parliamentary meeting
when the final decision was made. The parliamentary party
has chosen to withdraw from the assembly in opposition to
the imported administration,
according to PTI Central Informational Secretary Farrukh Habib.
The first PTI official to post his letter of resignation on Twitter, Murad Saeed, stated that it is in line with their party regarding decision. Several additional party members, including Shireen Marzari, Hammad Azhar, Fawad Chaudhary, and Shafqat Mehmood, submitted and posted their resignations from the national assembly on twitter. Even not only from their own party, Ali Amin Gandapur, a former minister for Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir Affairs, also posted a picture of his letter of resignation on the party's letterhead.
Raja Pervaiz Ashraf, speaker of the National Assembly, also announced:
"The law requires me to refuse a member's resignation even if they declare it in my presence, but I have information that they're under pressure".
He also claimed that PTI legislators continued to use the benefits offered to MNAs and inhabit parliament lodges even after the declaration of mass resignations. He added to this statement that PTI members has also sent him texts requesting that he reject their resignations, to which he said he will not remove any members from parliament until he is pleased whether there was no manipulation in their resignations.
According to Raja Parvaiz, he anticipates for better understanding and resolving the conflicts between parties. PTI legislators will attend parliament once again, serve their districts, and participate in debates.
They want transparent elections, and that can only be given to them if they improve the law, take better action, and agree on a plan of action as a group.
He even urged agreement between the administration and the resistance to address the nation's problems. The speaker said:
"The opposition is important, just like the government is important."
The assembly speaker said,
"I request all political parties and people from all schools of thought that there should be stability in Pakistan's politics
now, and for now this is the need of the hour."
The speaker emphasized the
need of assemblies finishing
their terms as it brings maturity in politics, enhance
the economy, and strengthen the system. According to a report, Pakistan's economy would rank sixth in terms of size by 2075. So,, to ensure a better future, we must have elections on schedule. However, if the opposition abstains from the assemblies, Pakistan will face danger and alarming situation.
